Dear Friends and Family,
We are saddened to hear the news of the passing of Gabriella Sara, daughter to Elana and Jonah. She and her parents were one of the NICU families we got to know during our time at Columbia Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York.
Elana and Jonah were (and are) the kindest, most humble and giving parents we met in the NICU. Our hearts expanded when we met them. They arrived months before we got there, and they were still there when we left. They always checked in with us, and we with them. Everyone in the NICU knew them--they are two quite special people, and our hearts go out to them.
Andrew, Ellis and I are joining Elana and Jonah's families in the March for Babies on May 1st in memory of Gabriella. The money we raise will support March of Dimes research and programs--its mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. It will also be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care.
